Baptism

Baptisms at St. Joseph's are normally infant/children Baptisms. (Adult Baptisms? Call the Parish Office at 410-256-1630 for information.) Baptisms are celebrated twice a month in the church--11:00am on a Saturday and 1:30pm on a Sunday. Check with the Parish Office for specific dates in any given month - reservations are required.

Prior to the Baptism, parents are required to register for Baptism and attend our 1-hour Baptism Preparation Session. These classes are normally held  the second Monday of the month at 7:00pm in the lower level of our Parish Center - Room 4; you must make reservations. Sponsors (Godparents) are certainly invited to attend with the parent(s).

Realizing that Baptism is the first of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) and a beginning step in the faith life of your child and your child's reception into God's family, we want you to be aware of our support for you in making this decision. The Staff of St. Joseph's will walk with you every step of the way leading up to your child's Baptism and beyond; we look forward to welcoming your child into our parish community through the waters of Baptism.

Sponsors (Godparents)

Choosing a Godparent(s) for your child is an important privilege and duty for parents. It is also an honor for those who are chosen. Godparents are entrusted with the responsibility (along with parents) of raising the child in the Catholic faith; passing on the heritage of our faith. Choose Godparent(s) who will be a real and long-lasting help in the Catholic-Christian formation of your child. At least one of the Godparents must be a mature baptized Catholic in good standing with the faith; others should be Christian.

Please contact the Parish Office at 410-256-1630 to register for your child's Baptism, to make arrangements to attend a Baptism Prep Session and to schedule your child's Baptism.
