New members are welcome.
The Sewing Guild evolved as a result of Father Kevin's suggestion that the choir wear robes. The cost of ready made robes was prohibitive, so the choir members pitched in and made them as well as collars. They started in the Spring of 2005 and by September the robes were ready. The volunteers enjoyed each others' company and once the robes were completed, rather than disband, they started the St. Joseph Sewing Guild.
At the first Ministry Fair, we invited other church members to join the Guild. Several new members joined as a result.
Our goal is to serve the entire parish community and its organizations with any sewing projects they may have. Some things we have accomplished are the making of the church banners, altar clothes and mantles, backdrops for the altar, drapes for Mary's altar, baptismal bibs for infants, children and adults, and cross and statue covers for Lent. We also made table covers for confessional room and kneeler cover for the Pieta. We mended some table covers for the Sodalities dinners.
We meet whenever our services are needed. Generally we meet in a home during the day, sometimes in church.
Join us! New members are always welcome.
