Respect Life

The greatest challenge our society faces today is the violent and immoral act of deliberately "snuffing out" innocent human life - ABORTION.

Your Respect Life Committee has, for more than 5 years, been actively demonstrating at the local abortion facility on a monthly basis by praying the Rosary for Life, while reinforced by others who pray the Rosary for Life in our Chapel at the same time.  We have organized two successful Spiritual Adoption programs in the past and are planning more.  The Spiritual Adoption Program is a time when parishioners are asked to pray for an unborn baby (10 seconds a day) over a nine month period to be spared the danger of abortion. We celebrate at the end of nine months by giving donations to the pregnancy centers.

Our committee has also been active in the Project Gabriel and Project Rachel programs, as well as helping local Pregnancy Centers. Project Gabriel assists single, unwed mothers who need a place to live and help with their unborn children. Project Rachel is a program to help post-abortive women and men, who have been wounded by the act of abortion, to find forgiveness and healing. The Pregnancy centers, such as Birthright, assist mothers and fathers in need of clothing, food and baby equipment for their babies by distributing donated items to them. These are wonderful organizations who aid mothers and fathers in need, free of charge. The committee has also attended pro-life conferences sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Other activities have included attending meetings in Annapolis with our lawmakers to keep them informed of Pro-Life activities throughout our Archdiocese. This is most important now because of the number of new Delegates and Senators who need to be "educated" on the seriousness of the abortive actions taking place around us.  under the guidance of the Maryland Catholic Conference Center, we conduct letter writing campaigns to write letters to designated politicians about the bills under consideration at the time.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Please consider joining our committee either as a regular member of as an associate volunteer. If you cannot attend the regular meetings, we are always in need of volunteers at letter writing campaigns and other activities.

Join us!
