Vocation Awareness
The Vocation Awareness Committee's goal is to increase awareness and provide education regarding vocations. It encourages parishioners to focus and pray to determine God's calling for them in their lives. The committee has a special duty to emphasize the need for vocations to the priesthood, deaconate, and the religious orders.
The duties of the parish vocation committee are to alert the parish of upcoming Archdiocesan vocation events by placing announcements in the parish bulletins and having announcements made at Mass. One activity is placing posters, current flyers, and any other materials in locations of high visibility around the parish and in the school. The committee plans special days of prayer, personal witness and liturgies to pray for and encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
We encourage families to participate in the Traveling Chalice Program. Members disseminate materials and information from the Vocations Office, Seminaries, Serra Clubs, Knights of Columbus, and other Vocation Ministries such as Celebrate National Vocation Awareness Week (January), the World Day for Consecrated Life (February), and the World Day of Prayer for Vocations (May) with the approval of the pastor and with his support. We are the liaison between the parish and vocation office.
The committee members should have a deep love for God and the Church. These members should have a love and an interest in Church vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The committee is dedicated to making time to pray, affirm, educate, invite, promote and support vocations.
