AFRICAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY AT ST JOSEPH

The African Catholic Community at St. Joseph Church, hereinafter referred to as ACC, was founded on February 4, 2017, with the approval and support of Rev. Jesse Bolger, after his installation as the 26th Pastor of St Joseph (Fullerton) Church, by Archbishop William E. Lori, the 16th Archbishop of Baltimore.

What started with a few Catholic families of African descent in the early 1990s, has now grown to a large group that is home to a community of African Catholic families from various ethnic and cultural groups.

In the African Catholic Community (ACC), you will find members from various countries such as Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Eritrea, Tanzania, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, and Mali.

ACC's Mission

To provide an environment at St. Joseph Church for Catholics of African descent to live the Gospel, to proclaim the Gospel by word and example, to share a communion with Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, as well as to bring together a diversity of people united in faith, hope and love to cherish their culture.

ACC’s Community Outreach Program involves going out to the Church’s neighborhood to meet with African American Communities in the city - being the salt of life

ACC's activities comprises of organizing food drives, and volunteering in soup kitchens in communities that are in need

ACC's Events

The ACC is an active community. The ACC hosts a quarterly mass at St. Joseph Fullerton. We have monthly organizational meetings, and take part in the multi-cultural Pentecost mass. We also have special events at the parish. In 2017, the parish and the ACC hosted "An Evening with Immaculee Ilbagiza." In a powerful evening, Immaculee gave her amazing testimony on survival, hope, mercy and forgiveness through prayer.

We invite you to join us at our monthly general meetings, scheduled on the first Sunday of every month at 1:45 p.m. in the Parish Center. Are you having difficulties finding a baby-sitter for your children? You do not need to worry anymore - just bring them with you to our meetings. Light refreshments are provided by our volunteers.

SCOUTS BSA AND CUB SCOUTS AT ST. JOSEPH FULLERTON

Scouting is a program with a purpose. It is a way for youth to gain strong ethics, moral fiber, and duty to God, all while learning valuable skills and developing future leaders. The world has changed, but the basic concepts of Scouting have remained constant, with values, aims, and methods that continue to mold youth into exceptional adults.

The Scouts BSA program is for youth ages 11-17.

The Cub Scouts program is for youth ages 6-10.

At this time, both of these programs at St. Joseph are accepting boys only.

Scouts BSA Troop 746 was founded at St. Joseph in 1952. The Troop meets weekly on Friday nights in the Fr. Gribben Youth Center at 7:30 PM, and goes camping one weekend a month, year-round.

Cub Scout Pack 746 is currently rebuilding and is need of parents and volunteers to be Den leaders. If you can help, please contact Jack Redel.

Faith, Family & Fellowship

Faith, Family, Fellowship is a monthly opportunity for families of St. Joseph Parish to grow in faith and fellowship with one another. At the 10:30am Mass during the first Sunday of the month, Father Jesse invites the children to come up to the altar to hear his homily. During Mass, you hear beautiful music preformed by our Praise and Worship band. After Mass, families are invited to join us in the Parish Center for breakfast and a brief family-based message. Please note, the contemporary band leads worship every Sunday at the 10:30am Mass and children's liturgy is offered.
